As you can see in the chart below, as soon as we go from lying to standing, the pressure on the discs is 400 percent higher and continues to increase in bending and sitting. There is not a lot of data on intradiscal pressure (IDP) from (live) human subjects except for Alf Nachemson, Hans-Joachim Wilke, and one other person whose name escapes me.
